Structural Insulated Panel (SIP) are a construction material of the future. Used extensively in America and Europe for their un-paralleled insulating properties, they have traditionally been underutilised within the Australian and New Zealand markets.

With the increasing costs associated with energy consumption and the need for higher performing structures, SIPs are beginning to be explored in Oceania, although the industry is still in it’s infancy.

The advantages of using SIP within a structure are numberous.  They are lightweight, versatile, and can be fully prefabricated meaning that installation happens in a fraction of the time of regular builds. On top of this their structural properties remove the need for framing and bracing, and lesson the need for steel within the structural envelope.

All this being said, the main advantage of SIP is that a fully sealed thermal shell is within the reach of even the most complex build processes.
